Giannoula Riesling - a pretty label but well down on the value for money scale.
Edgar Riek was a pioneer of winemaking in the Canberra region and I can't help thinking that James Halliday gave the 2017 Giannoula Riesling an element of a boost for old times sake when he awarded it 96 points. A perfectly sound wine but far from the region's best example and it passed without comment at my weekly lunch when my companions were unaware of its rating.
$19.99 a bottle at the local Narrabundah, ACT, supermarket (where there is, I must say, an excellent selection to choose from). Pleasant enough but a one on my ratings which puts it well down on the value for money scale.
